Cyclocross: Superprestige Zonhoven 2014 – Photo’s

Many Dutch cyclocross fans from Limburg went to the race in Zonhoven this weekend. The Zonhoven cross is a difficult one, because of the many hard sand strokes. Thanks to our friend Jean Savelberg, he was one of them, we have some fantastic photo’s of the spectacle!

Sanne Cant was the girl to beat in Zonhoven. The national champion finished the race after a huge solo ride. Nikki Harris from Great-Britain and Cant’s countrywoman Ellen van Loy were 2nd and 3rd.

Many spectators came to the ‘Hole of Zonhoven’ to see their heroes.

A lot of excitement on the faces of the U23 riders before the race. Wout van Aert was very strong. Michael Vanthourenhout could initially follow the world champion, but his speed was too high.

The Belgians dominated their home race: five wins out of five.

A good performance of the Telenet-Fidea ladies, but Belgian champion Sanne Cant was too fast.

World champion Wout van Aert on Michael Vanthourenhout’s wheel. “I won yesterday on the Koppenberg between the pros, so I had a psychological advantage today”, said Van Aert.

A third place for Lars van der Haar, World Cup winner in 2013/’14. He was the best Dutchman in the rankings.

Kevin Pauwels took the win in Zonhoven. The Belgian rider defeated Sven Nys in the sprint.
