Op de Alto Do Monte Da Groba heeft de Ier Nicolas Roche de tweede etappe gewonnen. De renner van Saxo-Tinkoff was de sterkste van een leidend kwartet. De Italiaan Vincenzo Nibali is de nieuwe leider in de Vuelta a España.
